First Sale Fees / Field guide
About First Sale Fees
Independent cost research for people preparing to sell their first digital product.
What this publication does
First Sale Fees helps solo creators compare the costs of selling downloads, templates and courses. It is operated by Masato Ishioka, based in Japan, and is written for an English-speaking audience.
The site focuses on a narrow question: how do the published charges change when product price, sales volume or plan choice changes? The calculators and worked examples make those assumptions visible.
How the work is done
We use providers' official pricing and help pages, identify the source and review date, and calculate the examples from the stated assumptions. We distinguish published product information from our own analysis. We do not present the research as a hands-on product review or claim customer results that we have not measured.
Prices and plans can change. The provider's current checkout and contract determine what you pay. Use this site to prepare questions and compare scenarios, then confirm the details that matter to your own business.
Editorial choices
A free plan may be the right choice. A more expensive plan may be worthwhile when it solves a specific problem or removes a larger recurring cost. Our fee calculations do not use referral commission rates as inputs.
